First General Meeting!

Good morning Allies & Advocates!

Today we are having our first general body meeting of the new school year for Allies & Advocates. The meeting will take place from 12:10pm to 12:50pm in Room 109 at the Law School. Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP'd.

Meet the officers, and other members, and listen to officers talk about plans for the upcoming school year, and exciting events that will be happening throughout the year.

If you didn't RSVP, you can still attend! We might have some food leftover, but just in case there isn't, you can bring lunch with you.

Hope to see you all there!

Back to School Time!

School is starting soon, Allies & Advocates! Here is a brief update on some springtime Prairie Pride activity.

The Omaha World-Herald published an article about John Lotter's unsuccessful federal appeal. The article used incorrect terminology when referring to one of the people Lotter killed, a young transgender man who went by the name Brandon Teena. LGBT bloggers across the country picked up the story, and local and national advocates for transgender rights contacted the newspaper. The World-Herald quickly changed the title of their story and edited the pronouns used. Allies & Advocates member Diane Amdor wrote a letter to the editor, which was published a few days after the original story ran.

Look for more updates in the next few days, and see you all back at school next week!
